Consultation on proposed changes - Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2022

The Department for Education is seeking views on a wide variety of proposed changes to the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education for September 2022. The changes seek to provide further clarification on a number of aspects of school's safeguarding responsibilities including merging the content of Sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges 2021 DfE guidance into Keeping Children Safe in Education. Annex F of the proposed document provides a summary of substantive changes.

The consultation was issued on 11 January 2022 and closes on 8 March 2022

It is recommended that senior leaders read the consultation documents and respond to the consultation. We will offer further advice once we know the outcome of the consultation.

Schools and colleges should continue to have regard to the 2021 version of Keeping Children Safe in Education for the purposes of their current safeguarding arrangements.
