Support for Key Stage 2 Statutory Assessment
Between now and Key Stage 2 test week, the assessment and curriculum teams will provide resources to support colleagues with the process, following the two years without testing because of COVID.
Resources
The following resources will be uploaded to the assessment pages of the Schools and Learning Providers site:
- Tips to help you prepare for the KS2 National Curriculum Reading Test Video - For Year 6 teachers, advice on skills for the reading curriculum, approaches to use in the classroom and tackling the test questions.
- 10 Teaching Tips for the KS2 Mathematics Tests Booklet - For Year 6 teachers, advice on how to structure the focus of lessons for this half-term, plus teaching ideas and approaches to use in the classroom.
- Maths Support pamphlets - For Year 6 teachers, explaining common misconceptions on the 8 identified high value topics in the '10 Teaching Tips for the KS2 Mathematics Tests Booklet'. Released every week on 25 February, 4 March, 11 March, 18 March, 25 March, 1 April and two extra for Easter.
- Test Techniques for the KS2 Tests Booklet - For Year 6 teachers, advice on how to support pupils to be ready for the GPS, Reading and Mathematics tests during the final weeks.
- Access Arrangements Explained - For Year 6 teachers and those responsible for the organisation of the National Curriculum Tests in Y6. This resource will take you through the access arrangements that could be used to enable children to access the tests fairly.
- Statutory Assessment Network training videos and resources - To guide Year 6 teachers through the teacher assessment of writing using the teacher assessment frameworks, the Pre Key Stage Frameworks and the Engagement Model.
We are also pleased to be able to offer KS2 Test Support appointments to Year 6 teachers or headteachers who have specific questions or would like advice about the tests.
Half- and one-hour slots are available on:
- Friday 4 March, 9-1pm
- Thursday 10 March, 9-1pm
- Thursday 17 March, 9-1pm
- Wednesday 30 March, 1-5pm
- Thursday 21 April, 9-1pm
