Cyber Security Information Session now includes the Norfolk Constabulary
Further to MI Sheet 37/22 we have extended our Cyber Security Information session on Thursday 17 March to include sessions from the Norfolk Constabulary on their Cyber Security initiatives available to schools, as well as the Cyber Resilience Programme offer from Secure Schools.
The revised agenda now includes:
- Introduction to session - Simon Mobbs, ICT Solutions
- Dr Steve Jones, Cyber Security Advisor for Norfolk & Suffolk Constabulary
Cyber Protect - Free cyber security advice and guidance available for:
- Keeping your schools safe from Cybercrime
- Staff Cyber Awareness training
- Basic assessment of your Organisation's IT infrastructure, which can then be used as a predecessor for the Secure Schools programme.
National Crime Agency's Cyber Choices scheme:
Norfolk and Suffolk Constabulary are working with educational establishments to support, educate and divert these individuals as early as possible. The aim to provide young people with the information they need to make informed decisions and prevent all but the most determined from committing these types of offences.
Under Home Office Crime Recording Rules they are able to support schools with young people who have potentially committed certain offences within the school environment without recording a crime.

ICT Solutions, in partnership with the cyber security specialists Secure Schools, are delighted to offer a new Cyber Resilience Programme for schools, academies, federations and multi-academy trusts.
The programme has three stages available, depending on the level of guidance and support you require and can be carried out over multiple years. We strongly recommend undertaking Stage One - Internal Audit if you have not already had an audit in the last 12 months, to identify any gaps in your security and to avoid an incident occurring. Police CyberAlarm is a free tool to help understand and monitor malicious cyber activity. This service is made up of two parts: monitoring and vulnerability scanning.
Police CyberAlarm acts as a "CCTV camera" monitoring the traffic seen by a member's connection to the internet. It will detect and provide regular reports of suspected malicious activity, enabling organisations to minimise their vulnerabilities. The data collected by the system does not contain any content of the traffic. The system is designed to protect personal data, trade secrets and intellectual property.
Vulnerability Scanning can be added and used to scan an organisations website and external IP addresses, providing regular reports of all known vulnerabilities.
CyberAlarm is highly recommended by the DfE for schools who have signed up to their Risk protection Arrangement (RPA).
