Invitation to become a School of Sanctuary - Fully Funded Award

With an anti-racist ethos at its heart, this network supports the thousands of young people seeking sanctuary in the UK, raises awareness of the issues facing people in the asylum system, challenges misconceptions about migration and builds community and social cohesion.

A School of Sanctuary is a school which prides itself on being a safe and inclusive place for everyone, regardless of their immigration status. The message is a simple one: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! We invite schools interested in the Schools of Sanctuary award to attend our information session, in order to learn more about:

  • What it means to be a School of Sanctuary
  • Why this work is important and what it can contribute to your school
  • How to apply for the Schools of Sanctuary Award - fully funded
  • Local initiatives and opportunities organised by the network (including - A Day of Welcome)
  • Case studies of good practice shared by colleagues at other Norfolk Schools of Sanctuary (Primary and Secondary)

More information on Schools of Sanctuary can be found at: www.norfolksos.co.uk.

The award is fully funded by the DfE Wellbeing in Education: Recovery Grant. The information session will be held on Thursday, 30th June, 3.30-4.30 pm, via Microsoft TEAMS. To book a place visit the Services to Schools website

In order to also ensure that your school has a truly anti-racist ethos and to gain greater insight into issues of racism, please also book a place on the fully funded workshop on Thursday, 21 Apr 2022. 15:30 - 17:00 via Microsoft Teams.
