Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) support available

Do you need support to help address the needs of children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) within your mainstream class or school?

Tracey Woods, Norfolk's SLCN outreach teacher, can offer support by:

  • Working alongside TAs and teachers within EYFS, KS1 and KS2 mainstream settings
  • Offering training to inform groups of professionals (or parents) of strategies and suitable activities to help address such needs
  • Providing practical support and guidance on developing early receptive and expressive language skills in children who are encountering difficulties acquiring such skills
  • Supporting with ideas and resources to help support speech sound development (although I am unqualified to address specific speech sound difficulties, I have regular contact with speech therapists so am able to seek advice if necessary)

Support is available for a fee of £100 to help cover travel and resourcing costs for up to 6 visits. Please note that training sessions for larger numbers of professionals involves an additional fee.

To request outreach support, please visit "Making a referral to a Specialist Resource Base (SRB)" on the Norfolk Schools and Learning Providers website. Please ensure that you tick the request for 'SLCN outreach' box shown on the form.

Information about the SLCN outreach support available can be downloaded from the schools website.

If you would like to discuss any SLCN issues for which you require support, please ring Tracey Woods at Hall School, Norwich on 01603 466467 or e-mail twoods@hall.norfolk.sch.uk.
