Recruitment: LA Moderators KS1 and KS2

Those wishing to be considered for the post of LA moderator must submit an expression of interest to the assessment team via assessment@norfolk.gov.uk by Monday 26 September 2022. The expression of interest should cover the following points:

  • Detail of recent and relevant experience - assessment in the appropriate key stage
  • Demonstrable accurate teacher assessment for the appropriate key stage
  • Detail of experience in leading professional discussions and an example of how you may have managed a challenging conversation
  • Reasons for wishing to join the moderation team - including further information about what you can bring to the team
  • Any additional relevant information

It is important that the expression of interest gives a good reflection of the candidate's personality, skills and experience as this is what is used by the panel of lead moderators to shortlist applicants. In addition, it is important that the candidate has a record of making accurate assessment judgements, reflected in their LA moderation record. As an LA moderator, you will need to be able to commit to 4 training days (KS1 - 1 November, 18 January, 14 March, 25 May. KS2 - 2 November, 18 January, 14 March, 25 May), one half day out of school to complete the STA standardisation exercise (KS1 and KS2 - 13 December a.m.), and approximately 4 days of moderation during the first 3 weeks of June 2023. Please note that the STA standardisation exercise date may be subject to change.

Interviews

This year, those candidates who are shortlisted will be asked to attend a short online interview with 2 members of the LA assessment team. The interview should last for 15 - 20 minutes and will enable the assessment team to get to know you further, be assured of your suitability for the role and to ascertain your induction needs. The interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams on 3 and 4 October. Further detail will be sent to you if shortlisted.
