Inclusion and SEND Support for Schools - Autumn 1
Welcome back to the first half-term of the academic year!
We have a fantastic offer of fully funded and subsidised Inclusion and SEND advice, guidance, training and resources for your school this half-term, supporting you to develop more inclusive school cultures and curriculums for the whole-school community.
Early Intervention and Prevention

RSHE
- RSHE Bootcamp - Primary | Norfolk Services for Schools: This fully funded webinar and accompanying RSE teaching resource will provide your school with everything it needs to extend beyond statutory compliance, embedding best practice RSHE.
SEMH
New SEMH e-learning offer
This e-learning training offer supports existing whole-school approaches to mental health and wellbeing and is therefore not an additional aspect to implement. It is focused on helping you to improve what you already do.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) - An Introduction to SEMH - Module 1 | Norfolk Services for Schools: The training modules will provide you with a basic understanding of key theoretical concepts to support your knowledge, confidence, and skills.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) - Neuroscience - Module 2 | Norfolk Services for Schools: The training modules will provide you with a basic understanding of key theoretical concepts to support your knowledge, confidence, and skills.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) - Wellbeing and Resilience - Module 3 | Norfolk Services for Schools: The training modules will provide you with a basic understanding of key theoretical concepts to support your knowledge, confidence, and skills.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Social Scaffolding - Module 4 | Norfolk Services for Schools: Social Scaffolding is a relatively new term used to describe how we support each other through our relationships. This applies to everyone within the school community.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) - Understanding Anxiety, Low Mood, Stress and Trauma - Module 5 | Norfolk Services for Schools: This module will look at the psychology of anxiety, low mood, stress, and trauma, helping us to differentiate so we can better support and understand some of the key signs to look out for. We will also consider some everyday approaches to provide support, building on our previous approaches through the introduction of the PIES model.
PATHS®
- PATHS® New Leads Support Session | Norfolk Services for Schools: This support session will equip new PATHS® Leads to be effective and achieve a measurable impact through their role.
Norfolk Steps
We're excited to share with you our new Norfolk Steps programme. We will shortly be providing all delegates of the cancelled Norfolk Steps launch with a Norfolk Steps video. This video will replace the virtual launch events that were due to take place on Wednesday 14th September. This video will include:
- Messages from Chris Snudden Director of Learning and Inclusion, Children's Services and Andy Tovell, Assistant Director, Inclusion and Opportunity
- Messages from our Steps team
- An exclusive first look at the new Steps digital content and overall programme
- Information about how we can support you and your school with early intervention and support for managing complex or challenging behaviour.

Learning and SEND

Offer of support:
- Training packages, including Norfolk SENDCo Now, SLCN Level 4 and a range of twilights - contact inclusionandsend@norfolk.gov.uk for information.
- Adviser support for leaders and SENDCos in the areas of:
- Identification of need (INDES)
- Provision (IPSEF and PEaSS)
- High quality teaching
- Accessibility Strategy and Plans | Norfolk Services for Schools: A session to explain the ambition in Norfolk with regards to Accessibility in places of learning. The session will include presenting information and offering advice regarding the process of completing and publishing an Accessibility Plan.
- SEND Forum Autumn 2022 | Norfolk Services for Schools: A forum to bring Special Educational Needs and Disabilities professionals together to learn, share and develop provision across Norfolk.
- SLCN Level 4 Award | Norfolk Services for Schools: This exciting initiative will enable participants to develop their knowledge and confidence in supporting children and young people with speech, language and communication needs and provide them with the opportunity to develop a range of practical skills to fulfil a school-based support role.
- INDES Moderation Panel: The development of a co-produced process to support the external moderation of INDES submissions by schools. To book please contact lucie.hobbs@norfolk.gov.uk
- Arranging and Chairing Annual Reviews | Norfolk Services for Schools: This training is designed as an overview of the annual review process for SENCOs new to the roll and for more experienced SENDCOs who would like to know about the latest guidance and paperwork available to support them.

SEND Modules
These High Quality Teaching modules aim to give teachers an overview of what High Quality Teaching looks like in a mainstream setting within the context of the role and responsibility of every teacher to be 'a teacher of SEND' therefore supporting the Teacher's Standards.

- SEND Module 3 - Provision Expected at SEN Support (PEaSS) | Norfolk Services for Schools
- Reflective Record - SEND and SEMH | Norfolk Services for Schools: Throughout this project, you will be considering the impact that your teaching has on the learning of children with SEND and SEMH. The project's E-learning modules and accompanying resources will support your understanding.
SEMH and Transitions Team
Led by Vicki Setters, Senior Adviser Inclusion, SEMH and Transitions
Offer of fully funded support:
- Bespoke, intensive support for schools in relation to CYP that are close to exclusion
- Support for schools with the transition of CYP that are placed via the Fair Access Team
- Support for schools with ensuring effective Managed Moves
- Exclusions Team support
- Support with identifying whether an SEMH SRB application is appropriate
