Webinar and resources to support Anti-Bullying Week 2022: 14-18 November 2022

This year the National theme for anti-bullying week is Reach Out.

The theme was agreed following consultation with teachers and pupils by the Anti-Bullying Alliance which coordinates Anti-Bullying Week every year in England and Wales. Teachers and children wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

Following the success of the campaign in 2021 where 80% of our schools marked the week and we reached over 7.5 million children and young people. This year Anti-Bullying Week will remind that we should reach out and show each other the support we need, whether it's in school, at home, in the community or online.

Join us for our fully funded webinar aimed at supporting the delivery of Anti-Bullying Week, hosted by Inclusion Advisor and RSHE lead, Alice Ndiaye. This session will also include input from Andrew Moffat, MBE, Professional Development Lead at Excelsior Trust, a MAT in Birmingham, and he is Co-founder & CEO of the No Outsiders charity. Andrew is author of a number of teaching resources including 'No Outsiders: Everyone different, Everyone welcome' and he will share how his approach can challenge bullying in its many forms.

The webinar will take place on 8 November 15:45-16:45 and will include:

  • A short presentation on how anti-bullying work supports statutory duties and fits within RSHE and a whole school approach to emotional health and wellbeing
  • A briefing around the local offer for Anti-Bullying Week; 14-18 November 2022
  • A conversation between Andrew and Alice about how inclusive picture books can be used to develop empathy and compassion and support an anti-bullying culture
  • An opportunity to ask Alice and local school experts questions.

You will leave this session with:

  • The latest local and national initiatives around anti-bullying
  • An understanding of your statutory responsibilities around anti-bullying, and local guidance on prejudice-based bullying
  • Best practice guidance for the effective teaching of friendship, anti-bullying, and conflict resolution
  • A Padlet containing supporting guidance, resources, and information
  • Illustrative examples of effective practice to support positive relationships and prevent bullying in schools
