DSL Safeguarding Webinar - Child Exploitation: The preventative role of RSHE

DSL Webinar Monday 20 March 9.30-10.30 led by Alice Ndiaye, Inclusion Adviser, Early Intervention and Prevention in partnership with the Safeguarding Team.

Child Exploitation: The preventative role of RSHE

Schools have a critical role in teaching children and young people about safeguarding, as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of CE. Key messages about healthy relationships must be taught to all ages to explore topics such as friendships, appropriate touch, keeping safe, consent, recognising and assessing risk and knowing how and where to get help.

Outcomes

Delegates will leave this workshop able to:

  • Debunk some of the myths that shroud CE and learning how to avoid preconceptions about gang culture and its victims
  • Understand how statutory RSHE can be pivotal in supporting pupils' knowledge, values, and skills to avoid CE and ask for help if they or a peer are at greater risk of CE or are already being exploited

This session, suitable for all educational settings, will help schools teach effective RSHE, with a focus on protecting children from abuse and exploitation.
