Management Information Sheet
Updated LADO Procedures
The Norfolk LADO Service has completed a review of the NSCP Protocol 8.3: 'Allegations Against People who Work/Volunteer with Children' and the accompanying procedure: 'The Management of Allegations Against People Working with Children'. The updated procedures are now available on the NSCP website:
- 8.3 Allegations Against Persons who Work/Volunteer with Children - Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership (norfolklscb.org)
- The-Management-of-Allegations-Against-People-Working-with-Children-Procedure-February-2023.pdf (norfolklscb.org)
Please be aware that the Procedure is now one generic copy for all agencies and sectors. In addition to the revised procedures, there are updated LADO information leaflets for people referred to LADO, and LADO information leaflets for children and young people; one for children aged under 10 years and one for YP 10+ years. These information leaflets can be accessed on the LADO pages of the NSCP website.
It is recommended that all schools and colleges review the content of their safeguarding policies, training and guidance materials to ensure content is aligned to the revised NSCP Protocol 8.3 and Procedure in respect of effective safeguarding management of allegations against people working/ volunteering with children; including updating any live links within such documents.
Education, Quality Assurance & Regulation Duty Desk
This is just a reminder that we have a Duty Desk number which provides two services:
- LADO triage service - offering advice to any school or college which has a concern about an adult in a trusted position;
- Ofsted inspections - This is the number for all support relating to Ofsted inspections. The LA is notified directly by Ofsted of all maintained school inspections. An adviser is available before and during inspection to support schools. It is also the initial point of contact should an inspector in any school (LA-maintained or academy) indicate that they wish to speak with a representative of the local authority. Sometimes this conversation will be with the duty Adviser but on other occasions he or she might arrange for another more appropriate colleague depending on the circumstances. If the school has a Lead Officer, then they are likely to be closely involved in supporting the school during any inspection.
