Local First Inclusion - Secondary Headteacher events for Norfolk Alternative Provision

As part of the Local First Inclusion programme, there is an ambition to develop and expand the offer of alternative provision, to avoid preventable exclusions for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs in the secondary phase. The investment, specifically for creating additional alternative provision in the secondary phase is significant so it is critical we find the right solutions which achieve the best outcomes for young people in Norfolk.

This will be complementary to our current provision through our partnership with the Short Stay School for Norfolk, and will build upon the investment already shared for the primary SRB programme through the significant expansion of the SEMH Bases.

Headteachers and senior leaders are invited to engagement sessions this month where we will share our plans to date for discussion and further development with input from school colleagues.

We are hosting three face-to-face sessions and one online session on the following dates:

DateTimeVenue
Friday 23 June8-10.30amThe Knights Hill Hotel & Spa, King's Lynn
Monday 26 June1.30-4pmThe Space, Norwich
Tuesday 27 June8-10.30amThe Imperial Hotel, Gt Yarmouth
Wednesday 5 July3-5pmMS Teams

This is a unique opportunity to create a different approach to alternative provision in Norfolk which places system leaders, providers and mainstream schools central to design, delivery and decision-making.

We encourage as many headteachers and senior leaders as possible to attend and look forward to working together on emerging solutions. To book onto one of the sessions please email alternativeprovision@norfolk.gov.uk by Friday 16 June. Refreshments will be available on arrival and directions will be sent in advance of the sessions.

To follow up any of the points in this MI Sheet, or if you have any questions, please email alternativeprovision@norfolk.gov.uk.
