Best practice provision of RSHE in your school to support good Ofsted judgements.

Statutory RSHE will make a difference in your school!

The Big Ask, the largest-ever survey of children in England conducted this year by the Children's Commissioner, told us how important relationships, sex and health education (RSHE) and broader personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education is to children in England. When asked, children are very clear about how highly they value being taught life skills, about finances, and about healthy relationships, in a way that is sensitive and age appropriate. Put simply, children want their education to prepare them for life.

Ofsted have recognised the positive impact high quality RSHE has had in Norfolk schools.

"This is a warm, friendly school where everyone is welcome. Pupils know about healthy relationships, healthy lifestyles, and personal safety." Falcon Junior School, November 2022

"Pupils learn how to get on with each other and respect individual differences. They say that bullying is rare and trust staff to support them if they are worried… Personal, social and health education (PSHE) is a prominent theme that is threaded through daily school life." The Wherry School, June 2022

Our universal and bespoke programme of training, guidance and support has everything you need to embed an effective provision of RSHE that makes a measurable positive impact to your children, young people and whole-school improvement.

"Great examples of ways to deliver healthy relationships to young people and now knowing the best ways to explain and guide young people." 'Child Exploitation: The preventative role of RSHE' attendee

The whole-school approach

The DfE RSHE statutory guidance tells us,

"All of these subjects should be set in the context of a whole-school approach to supporting pupils to be safe, happy and prepared for life beyond school."

To support a whole school approach we have created the RSHE Toolkit. The toolkit will take you on a journey, supporting an outstanding provision of RSHE. The toolkit has 12 modules. There is an introductory module, one linked to each area of the whole-school approach and an additional module that focuses on special educational needs and disabilities.

The DfE RSHE statutory guidance also highlights,

"Schools which demonstrate effective practice often ensure clear responsibility for these subjects by a senior teacher in leadership position with dedicated time to lead specialist provision, e.g., a subject lead or co-ordinator."
