DfE COVID Back to School Campaign - Letter from the Chief Medical Officer

At the DfE's request, the Chief Medical Officer has written to headteachers and Trust leaders. The letter provides a clinical and public health perspective on mild illnesses and school attendance, and sets out the health benefits of regular school attendance. It also provides reassurance that it is usually appropriate for parents to send their children to school with symptoms of mild respiratory illness or anxiety. The letter has been co-signed by the Presidents of the Royal College of GPs, Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health, Royal College of Nursing, Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Public Health.
