Attendance Team communication

Welcome back to the start of another academic year. We hope that the first few weeks have run smoothly for you all, with all your pupils returning to school enthused for the new school year ahead.

Throughout the Summer Holidays we have been busily updating our various forms and documents. Please do make sure you visit the Attendance Team pages on the NCC Schools and Learning Providers website to ensure you are using the most up to date versions available.

Termly Targeting Support Meetings (TSMs)

Have you booked your termly targeting support meetings in with the Attendance Team? We have set slots throughout the day available to all schools to book:

  • Infant/Junior/Primary schools - 9am-10.30am, 11am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-3pm and 3.30pm-5pm
  • Secondary schools - 9am-12pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm

We can also arrange meetings for multiple schools within the same trust/federation. Please contact the Attendance Team on 01603 223 681 to discuss availability and get your termly meetings booked in.

Parental Responsibility Measures Attendance census for academic year 2022/23 webcast and Q&A

We will be hosting a webcast and Q&A session at 10.30am on Friday 29 September 2023 on MS Teams, to talk through the arrangements for this year's PRMA census return. As in previous years, we will continue to collect this data via an MS Form submission. During this webcast we will share the form and explain the data that needs to be captured. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about this collection process following the demonstration. The PRMA census must be submitted by us before we break for October half term, so we ask that all schools complete the MS Form by Friday 13 October 2023. This will allow a few days before the submission deadline for data submitted to be checked by the team and allow us to come back to you with any questions, if required.

Book your place on the upcoming PRMA census webcast and Q&A via the S4S website. There is no charge for this webcast and no limit to the number of delegates attending. We will look to record the demonstration but please be aware there will be a short delay between the event and the recording being made available.

If you have any questions about the webcast or the PRMA census, please contact the team at csattendance@norfolk.gov.uk.

Part-time Timetables (PTTs)

We have updated and published a revised version of the part-time timetable guidance, part-time timetable plan and created a new part-time timetable extension form. Please ensure that you are using the new templates. We advise familiarising yourself with the guidance, as this will aide you in your planning to support pupils to return to attending regularly.

Reminder! Useful resources

Don't forget that we have a range of useful and supportive materials available via our Attendance Team Pages on the NCC Schools and Learning Providers website, including a whole school training package and the Attendance Toolkit! These are continually being updated and is a great place to start for anyone wanting to know more about supporting regular school attendance.

Finally, the Attendance Self-Evaluation tool remains available for all schools to use. This self-assessment has been developed to support school leaders to assess their settings practice in order to meet the requirements laid out in 'Working Together to Improve School Attendance'. The 5 areas contained within the self-assessment are aligned with Norfolk's Attendance Strategy, DfE guidance and best practice advice, and the Ofsted thematic review and Framework for inspection. Positive feedback was received from school colleagues at the Summer Term Countywide Network meeting, who highlighted that it was well worth the time and effort put into completing as they could quickly identify areas that required improvement as well as areas of strength.
