Virtual School TA Network meetings

The Virtual School would like to invite Teaching Assistants who support Children in Care, Previously in Care and Children with a Social worker to join the Virtual School TA Network.

We held the first meeting in October where we discussed what it means to be trauma informed, with a presentation from the Children with a Social Worker team. Each meeting will provide an opportunity to share experiences, resources and strategies that have had a positive impact, alongside an opportunity to discuss barriers and how they were/could be overcome. These strategies and suggestions will be collated to create a resource pack that will be offered to schools. The topics covered in the meetings will be guided by feedback from the group and could include things such as mental health, trauma informed practice and supporting learning in the curriculum.

Our next meeting is Wednesday February 7, 1pm - 3pm at The Nest, Horsford and we would like to extend the invitation to join to the TAs in your setting.

We hope that Teaching Assistants and schools will see this as an exciting opportunity to collaborate, share good practice and problem solve alongside building a network of professionals who can support and complement each other.

The virtual school appreciates that TA time is valuable so would like to offer schools £90 for each session attended for schools to secure a supply TA/ additional staff if required. In addition to this at the end of the academic year each participating school will receive a £100 voucher from The Children's Book Centre.
