Surplus Asset & Materials Management System
Link: SAMMS.doc
We would like to make you aware of a new free service that Norfolk County Council have available called SAMMS - Surplus Asset & Materials Management System.
SAMMS is a materials exchange website, based on the technology of Eastex (which you may or may not be familiar with) and encourages reuse between departments within NCC. The website is based on listings of materials available and materials wanted. In the case of schools if you had materials you could no longer use and that others could make use of, you would be able to place a materials available listing. If you were looking for furniture, materials for projects etc you would be able to place a materials wanted listing. Essentially the listing consists of information about the material including what it is, where it is located and if there is any price attached to it. You also have the opportunity to upload a photo.
This has the potential to prevent unnecessary acquisitions, reduce expenditure on disposal of items and prevent useful materials from being sent to landfill.
