UNICEF - Rights Respecting Schools Award
On the first 'Leading Curriculum Renewal' course at the PDC in October the curriculum leader, Sue Bush, from Torriano Junior School in Camden, spoke about her school's curriculum journey and the fact that the school had become a UNICEF Rights Respecting School. Several course delegates expressed an interest at the time in finding out from a local UNICEF representative how they could also become a Rights Respecting School. Will Jackson, from UNICEF, has been booked to lead a twilight session on Tuesday January 25th at Norwich PDC (4.15 - 6.15 p.m) covering the following:
Developing an awareness and understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child - its history and origins
What are rights?
UNICEF's role in defending and supporting children's rights worldwide
The Rights Respecting Schools Award: aims, processes and impact in schools in the UK (national research and findings)
Details of this twilight course can be found on SDMS, under course reference number ECAN8. The cost of the course is £45.
