The Big Pedal - How It Works
The Big Pedal will be a stage race, spanning 15 school days, with each day bringing a new stage beginning in one town and ending in another.
Schools can join in for the whole three weeks of the race or for one or more of the daily stages in the final week of the race, which is also Bike to School Week.
Keep a record of everyone who cycles to school by bike using the Class Record Sheet, then at the end of each day your teacher will add the data to the website. You'll be able to see where your school placed for each stage on the website at the end of the following school day. You will also be able to check how you are doing in the overall race using the schools League Table.
Schools can also run competitions between their individual classes, and will be able to check which class has generated most daily journeys by logging on to their school home page. Which class do you think will cycle the most?
Each school will be given an individual time weighting, depending on size and number of pupils, so that smaller schools will be in with just as much of a chance to win prizes as larger schools.
If you'd like your school, and children, to get involved and be in line to win some great prizes, sign up and join the Big Pedal now. Enter your details on the Big Pedal Web Site and they will be in touch with more information on getting involved.
