Risk Management in the Primary PE - Ensuring Safe Practice

Traditionally Norfolk has always purchased copies of the association for Physical Educations (afPE) Safe Practice in PE Manual to distribute to all schools. This occurs once every four years with the national production by afPE of the new Safe Practice Manual. This year, 2012, schools will not be receiving a copy in this way but will rather have to purchase it for themselves.

This course will provide schools not only with the manual (2012 edition) but the necessary training and guidance to quickly adapt procedures, policies and practice to ensure compliance with new national safety guidance and best practice. This will save individual teachers having to wade through the new manual and interpret guidance in isolation.

The course will also be led by Peter Whitlam, afPE Safe Practice Author and Expert Witness, who will know the new guidance inside and out. This will also help to ensure that we can move teachers on quickly and address specific school based issues directly. Delegates will look in detail at the specific new guidance and changes, discussing how this will impact on such areas as risk assessments, procedures and policies, the establishment of appropriate routines and best practice.
