Capability Training for Headteachers

Audience: Headteachers and members of school leadership team

Members of the Employee Relations team will be providing training appropriate to Headteachers and other senior managers in schools on dealing with poor performance of employees. The course will cover changes in approach arising out of the new Appraisal and Capability regulations.

Outline programme
  • Introduction and objectives
  • Reasons for dealing with poor performance
  • The legal context and importance of procedures and records
  • Evidence to support a lack of capability case
  • Absence due to ill health related to the capability process
  • Tools for supporting managers and staff
  • The trade union view

    These dates are available in the Summer term 2012:-
    14th June at The Eco-Tech Centre, Swaffham
    26th June at Norwich City Football Ground
    2nd July at Hethel Engineering Centre, Hethel

    Arrival will be from 09:00 for 09:30 start and the day will end at 15:30
    Maximum of 20 delegates per day (one delegate per school) and places will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

    This training is free of charge to delegates from schools that purchase HR services from the Local Authority but there will be a charge of ½30 per delegate to cover the cost of venue and refreshments (including coffee on arrival and mid-morning, buffet lunch and afternoon tea). Delegates from schools that do not purchase HR services from the Local Authority may attend, space allowing, for a total cost of ½400.
