Plant For the Planet Academy - 6 October 2012

On Saturday 6th October 2012, Ormiston Victory Academy will be hosting a Plant For the Planet Academy to which Norfolk school children between ages 8 and 14 and their teachers are invited. Plant For The Planet, was launched in 2007 and has as its origins in a homework assignment of a nine year old, Felix, on the climate crisis. It has now grown into an international foundation, active in 70 countries, with the vision of empowering one million children to become Ambassadors for Climate Justice by 2020, using the planting of trees as a practical means of storing and so controlling our rising carbon dioxide emissions.

Please click here to view a flyer with details of the day. We shall be linking this event with the Learning Through Landscapes, Lottery funded Fruit-full Schools project, of which Ormiston Victory Academy is one of the 50 UK participating secondary schools. We hope to encourage the attending students from Norfolk Schools to specifically consider creating up their own orchards, planted with local varieties of fruit trees, helping to ensure the preservation of Norfolk's rich fruit growing heritage whilst also addressing global climate issues.

For further details and to register an interest in this event, please contact Pauline Williamson on 01603 742310 Extn 3317 or by email on p.williamson@ormistonvictoryacademy.co.uk.
