Swimming Courses
These courses are aimed at:
All teachers (QTS) and school
support staff involved in school
curricular swimming.
County Swimming Award
This course is mandatory for any member of school staff who will be working, under the direction of the swimming instructor, to teach a small group of pupils in shallow water (less than 1.0 m). This course is practical and includes a 45 min session in a shallow learner pool.
Safe Supervision of Swimming
This half-day course is required if a teaching assistant is to take responsibility as the visit leader for offsite visits to curricular swimming lessons and no teacher (QTS) from the school is present. This course is also highly recommended for NQTs and teachers (QTS) who lack experience or confidence in taking off-site swimming lessons. This course is theory only.
