The John Betjeman Poetry Competition for Young People

Poems are invited on the theme of place from 10-13 year-olds.

The first prize of £1,000 is shared between the winning entrant and his or her school. There are Eurostar tickets and book tokens for finalists. In addition to prizes for individual finalists, eight one-day poetry workshops with leading poets will be awarded to schools entering the competition.

Winners of the poetry competition are invited to read their poems at a prize giving held on National Poetry Day, Thursday October 3rd, on the concourse of St Pancras station next to the bronze statue of John Betjeman by Martin Jennings.
