Scam Alert: X-Factor Scam - 17 July 2013

Norfolk Trading Standards are aware of a scam which may target local schools.

A company claiming to be The X Factor is asking for schools to register their interest to become involved with their annual charity single. Schools are invited to attend a Christmas Recording taking place on 16th November 2013 at the ExCel Centre London. The company is requesting payment of £10.00 per person. The X Factor and ITV have both confirmed that this is a scam; they would not approach schools in this manner and they would not ask for payment.

Emails may have come from info@xfactorchristmas.com, Communications Manager, Jessica Weller.

Norfolk Trading Standards have not been contacted by any Norfolk schools with regards to this but would encourage any that have been approached by this scam to get in touch with us straight away by contacting them on 0344 800 8020 or emailing trading.standards@norfolk.gov.uk
