New developments at Suffolk & Norfolk Initial Teacher Training

Suffolk & Norfolk ITT now offers 60 Masters credits to trainees

After a successful University Campus Suffolk validation event in the summer, UEA and University of Essex have validated all our ITT programmes to deliver up to level 7. This allows all our trainees to access one third of a Masters degree in their initial teacher training year. Our current cohort of trainees signed up for this in September.

All Suffolk & Norfolk ITT trainees are being offered a PGCE

The same validation event also approved Suffolk & Norfolk ITT to offer a Postgraduate Certificate in Education across all its ITT programmes - including its employment based route, School Direct Salaried (formerly the GTP).

School Direct Salaried has replaced GTP as the primary and secondary employment based route

Our new salaried programme means that we can continue to offer the opportunity for trainees to earn a salary as they train.

Secondary SCITT and School Direct offers a wider range of subjects

Again, thanks to the successful validation event, Secondary SCITT will be able to offer training in many more subjects from September 2014, drawing on the expertise of the teams that currently deliver these subjects for School Direct Salaried. New subjects include: Art and Drama (from September 2013), History, Geography, R.E., Psychology, Sociology, Media Studies and Business Studies (from September 2014).

Suffolk & Norfolk ITT has more training places to offer than ever before

Thanks to the incredible support of partnership schools, Suffolk & Norfolk ITT now has the largest number of Primary and Secondary trainee places in its history. The challenge now is to recruit high quality trainees onto the courses. We would be very grateful if you could publicise SNITT training places at every opportunity so that the flow of high quality new teachers into local schools can continue.

Please use the attached poster on your website, in your school publications
... school magazine, local newsletter etc. where parents, those in support roles and others can see it. Surveys show that many SNITT trainees are recruited though school partners.
