Proud Canaries
Proud Canaries is the new NCFC LGBT fans and friends group. The football club have been very supportive and the Proud Canaries met with David McNally before Christmas. Stephen Fry has just agreed to be honorary president and he announced it on Twitter (see attached pic). 19th February is the 5th Football v Homophobia - an international day to end homophobia and transphobia in the beautiful game. We've celebrated it each year in Norwich with a five-a-side football tournament - one year teachers from Dereham-Neatherd High School won. This year Norwich City Football Club are going to join us in celebrating it with some special things happening at the Norwich City v Spurs match on Sunday 23rd February at 4pm. It is so exciting because they are showing real leadership and should be an inspiration to other clubs - as well as schools.
If you'd like to have a chat with someone about it you can email Di Cunningham or call her on 07960 008506. Di was recently on the McVeigh and Butler show on Radio Norfolk. She's a season ticket holder and very knowledgeable about football and the club - was a great pundit and joined in all the discussions about transfers etc and didn't just talk about footballers coming out. The New York Canaries tweeted that they were listening!
