Freedom of Information request regarding Free School Meals

A number of schools have contacted the Information Compliance Team regarding the same query - a Freedom of Information request for information concerning Free School Meals has been received from an individual who has not given their name or reason for the inquiry.

The schools concerned asked for advice as to whether they have to answer the request, as the person has not given their name € the short answer is YES, the Act allows a person to ask without giving a name or reason.

The Freedom of Information Act stipulates that an individual does not have to give their name or provide a reason as to why the information is requested.

You will need to collate the information and then look to see if there are any formal exemptions that need to be applied in line with the Freedom of Information Act.

If you need further advice on how to deal with this or other requests please contact the Information Management team on 01603 222661 or alternatively email information.management@norfolk.gov.uk
