What is your school doing in national Hate Free Awareness Week 11 - 18 October 2014?
For Headteachers and those responsible for behaviour, pastoral care or PSHE
National Hate Awareness Week 11-18 October 2014 is a prime opportunity to educate children and young people about what a hate crime or hate incident is. Many young people are unaware that some of the discriminatory language they use in school could be described as a hate incident outside school premises and in extreme cases it could be classed as a hate crime and lead to prosecution.
Hate Crime awareness week enables you to address some of the key aspects of discrimination in today''''s society and to emphasise the key message that your school welcomes everyone regardless of their differences and that you expect all who come into your school, children and adults alike, to respect your values and work together to promote them for the benefit of all.
Do get children involved in the poster competition - see details by clicking on the links below and keep me informed of any activities you do during the week.
