Postgraduate Certificate in Primary English ('EnLiST')
I attach a PDF which gives a brief outline of the Postgraduate Certificate in Primary English which the School of Education at the University of Northampton is running with support from NIEAS and N2GG.
It is based on the highly successful model established by the Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Mathematics (commonly known as MaST). Like MaST, the PG Cert Primary English (colloquially called EnLiST) gives successful participants 60 higher education credits. A further 60 can be gained by writing a thesis, so a teacher who successfully completes MaST, EnList and the thesis will gain a Masters in Education from Northampton University.
As the attached document explains, the course consists of two modules, Developing Primary English and Leading Primary English, and will enable participants to teach, and to lead the teaching of, English and Literacy in a creative yet rigorous way.
The cost of the two-year course is £1250 per person per year, so the total for the two years is £2500. N2GG schools can receive a subsidy covering half the first year's cost. (We can, I am afraid, at this stage make no firm financial commitment for the second year.) The rest of the fee will need to be paid by the school and/or the individual teacher.
The course is recruiting now, with an official start date of the 1st September and the first residential weekend taking place over 21st and 22nd of November, while the 2nd weekend is scheduled for 16th and 17th April at venues TBA.
We are having a briefing and question and answer session on 10th June from 4 pm at NPDC and 16th June from 4.00 pm at WNPDC. There will be light refreshments.
We have a very quick Google Form we would like interested colleagues to use. Go to it via: https://goo.gl/oKY2NZ
Hope you will use the form and look forward to seeing you soon.
