Destination democracy!
The Education Outreach Department at the Houses of Parliament in partnership with Spring Board East are offering a free half day theatre in education programme to Norfolk primary schools. The programme is aimed at years 4, 5 and 6 (KS2)
There is a 50 minute play which takes a humorous and interactive look at the key events in Parliament's history, with a focus on how ordinary people fought for the right to vote. The play features key historical events, starting with the feudal system and including the Magna Carta, Simon de Montfort, Guy Fawkes, the Chartists and the Suffragettes, finishing up in the modern day. The content of the play links to History, Literacy, and PSHE curriculum targets. The performance can be accompanied by 2 workshops on the rights of children in Victorian Britain and the suffragettes.
The event will take place in your school.
