Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service - KS1 Fire safety education programmes

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has its own fire safety schools education programmes that are delivered to key stage 1 year 1 and 2 pupils across the County.

The programmes are educational packages that have been designed to change the behaviour of children by increasing their knowledge about the risk that fire presents and generates awareness of the actions to be taken in the event of a fire.

Our free of charge classroom visits include how the Fire and Rescue Service helps people, a discussion about good fires and bad fires, followed by a cartoon based film.

In addition, our year 1 presentation, which lasts approximately 30 minutes, focuses on 'don't play with matches', and year 2, 60 minutes, looks at fire safety in the home, including the importance of smoke alarms and fire plans. All our visits conclude with the opportunity for the pupils to try on firefighting kit and a question and answer session.

Each visit can be tailored to suit your requirements to link in with the curriculum elements of 'people who help us' and 'the great fire of London'.

If you would like a fire officer visit, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
