Become an All Together School - united against bullying

A few months ago Norfolk was asked to apply for a project run by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and the DfE. Chris Snudden agreed to put Norfolk forward for this exciting project, and asked Rita Adair to lead it and for it to be housed in education. Norfolk County Council is one of the 17 successful authorities (out of a possible 50 Local Authorities) to take part in this 3-year project.

Essentially the programme is as follows:

  • It offers the chance for schools to become 'All Together' schools, that is that they are schools that have proved their activity to reduce bullying of all children including disabled children and those with special educational needs (SEN). There will be bronze, silver and gold level of All Together schools.
  • It is funded by the Department for Education and ABA provides the programme with the support of the Council for Disabled Children, Contact a Family, and Achievement for All.
  • It combines a whole-school approach with a social model element to support schools in a positive way to make whole-school change. This programme has been developed over the last three years and has seen significant results for schools in a relatively short space of time.
  • Through our online wellbeing questionnaire schools will be able to find out directly from pupils about how they feel in school. All schools on the programme can complete this questionnaire on a termly basis and they can analyse their results via the online platform. ABA has developed an audit tool and action planning tool which schools can use to assess their current practice and action plan a change process.

As Lead, Rita Adair has been asked to organise two training dates in the summer term: one for Headteachers/senior leaders (60 in total) and one for children's workforce (80 in total). Please see the attached Children's Workforce flyer and Schools flyer for dates for your school to sign up to: there are two at Norwich Professional development centre and two at King's Lynn Professional Development centre. Please note that the children's workforce dates can also include school staff. Please sign up as soon as possible so you don't miss out on this exciting opportunity.

If you do miss out on the training, your school can still be involved by registering your school on www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/alltogether, then follow the instructions to embark on the online programme.

If you have any queries relating to this Programme or the training sessions detailed in the link, get in touch with Rita Adair by email or phone 01603 307567.
