Encourage your pupils to 'Write on Norfolk'
Norfolk County Council is calling on the county's youngsters to get imaginative, put pen to paper and enter a brand new creative writing competition this summer.
'Write on Norfolk' our competition supported by Jarrold and BBC Radio Norfolk is a fun way of helping Norfolk children keep up their writing and literacy skills over the summer holiday.
The competition is open to Norfolk's school children aged 5-13 years and is for an original piece of creative writing. Entries can be submitted from Monday 5 June until 31 August and will be judged by an inspiring panel of writers, business people and leaders with a special interest in Norfolk and its young people.
We are asking schools and teachers to help encourage young people to get involved and start thinking about their entries. The writing can be in the form of a story, a letter, a diary entry or a poem but it can't be more than 500 words long, and it must have some link or reference to something, or someone or somewhere in Norfolk.
The competition is split into three age categories - 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13 and there will be Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each category. The results will be announced at a special event in October.
Some great prizes are up for grabs, with a Fire tablet and £40 Jarrolds Vouchers for our Gold winners. Plus all winners and their stories will be publicised in local media and online. Every entrant will receive a special Write On Norfolk certificate and for those who are enrolled in the Children's University, their entries will earn credits towards their degree.
