Finnbar's Force "May the 4th be with you" day 2018

Finnbar's Force

We are writing to you to invite you to take part in a very special day.

You may already be aware of our charity, Finnbar's Force, set up in memory of our beloved son Finnbar. We lost Finnbar to an aggressive brain tumour in 2016 and we set up the charity to help other families that find themselves facing the difficult journey that such a diagnosis brings, as well as raising awareness of the disease and the symptoms that it may present with. We have included an information sheet with this letter which tells our story and gives further information about the aims of Finnbar's Force.

Last year we invited some local schools to take part in our very own 'May the 4th be with you' day, where children could dress up for the day as their favourite Star Wars characters, with voluntary donations to our charity for doing so. Some schools also chose to spend the day playing 'space' and 'Star Wars' themed games and others held cake sales to raise even more money for us!

The day was a fantastic success, with 15 schools taking part across the county, helping to remember Finnbar in spectacular style, with Jedi Knights and First Order baddies battling in the playground - Finnbar would have absolutely loved to have taken part in such a fun day!

Not only did everyone have a lot of fun, but all together the schools that took part managed to raise an astonishing amount of money to help us in our mission to make life better for children diagnosed with brain tumours - across all the schools the total amount raised was a phenomenal £2775.09! We'll use every penny in our fight against childhood brain tumours, in Finnbar's name. We also received some fantastic press coverage, helping to spread our name and increase awareness.

We would love for your school to take part in the event this year, if you are able. If you would like to join 'the force', please contact us via email to let us know - events@finnbarsforce.co.uk

Hoping to hear from you soon, thanking you in advance for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Tristan and Claire Cork
