Clean Air Day for schools

Practical resources for schools to support Clean Air Day 20 June 2019

We can all have a cleaner air day on 20 June. Air pollution affects you from your first breath to your last, as the damage to our health can start when we're a baby and carry on through into old age. Walking rather than driving can cut exposure to air pollution by half! Why not encourage children and parents to walk to school on 20 June to help do their bit to reduce air pollution.

Follow the links below for lots of practical resources to help your school find out more about Clean Air Day and raise awareness amongst children about what we can all be doing to improve the air quality where we live.

Practical suggestions on how to support Clean Air Day on 20 June might include:

  • Encourage parents to walk or cycle with their children to school on Clean Air Day
  • Put up posters around the school sharing the key facts about air pollution
  • Post on social media about Clean Air Day and encouraging parents to walk their children to school
  • Encourage parents not to idle their car engines outside the school gates
  • Encourage children to create their own Clean Air Day posters to spread the message about walking to school.
