Wensum English Hub - Showcase events
The Wensum English Hub has recently become a DfE English Hub for Norfolk and are in a position to offer schools support in developing Phonics and Early reading.
They would like to invite you to book on one of their next showcase events which will run on
- Wednesday 13th November 2019 at Heather Avenue Infant School
- Wednesday 20th November 2019 at Heather Avenue Infant School
Their showcase events are free to attend and they are able to offer ½250 funding for you to attend, provided an action plan is sent in from your school within two weeks of attending the event.
What is a showcase event?
- A learning walk to see and discuss best practice in the teaching of phonics and early reading.
- Sessions focusing on fluency, regular assessment, creating a reading rich culture, with research based evidence woven throughout
- Talk from the Head teacher and English Lead to discuss philosophy behind the teaching of phonics, vocabulary and early reading
- An opportunity to develop an action plan for use at your school
- You will be invited to write an action plan to apply for funding and free support for your school. Up to ½6,000 funding is available.
- This event is open to Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers and Reading/Phonic Leaders at schools in Norfolk.
- The English Hub will provide you with funding for the supply cover costs (up to ½250) on receipt of your school's action plan. Two members of your staff can attend, one of whom must be a member of the SLT
- In addition, there will be an opportunity to apply for funding to purchase resources for supporting the teaching of phonics and early reading. (½3,000, matched funding or ½6,000, unmatched in some cases).
- Refreshments will be provided.
