Activities and challenges for schools to help keep kids active and learning during lockdown
During the school closures, Active Norfolk and the School Sports Partnership network are working together to ensure that schools, young people and families are supported to remain active and healthy.
Norfolk's School Sports Partnership network are creating and curating activities and resources for children to continue to be active and improve their physical literacy at home, or if they're going into school. With so many videos available on YouTube, this resource aims to give schools a manageable and structured resource to direct parents to access appropriate activities for children.
To keep the week interesting, engaging and varied each day will have a theme. These will include creative projects, maths and English, mindfulness, and physical activity skills development ideas.
The new activities will be released each Monday morning via the Active Norfolk website at www.activenorfolk.org/active-at-home-kids
Alongside this resource, the Norfolk School Games has just released the launch video of the Virtual School Games Challenges for 2020.
Starting 27 April, a challenge will be released online by the team of School Games Organisers every Monday, in the lead up to what would have been Summer School Games week.
Schools are asked to share this information with pupils, who can submit photos and videos of themselves and their families completing the challenges. Each challenge will be around personal improvement, and in line with the sports and events that are currently in the Summer Games. Entries will be shared and celebrated via social media during the Norfolk School Games finals week, 15-19 June. The launch video explaining the Virtual Challenges can be viewed at www.norfolkschoolgames.co.uk/news/
