Walk 500 miles over August to raise money for the Sir Norman Lamb Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund

On Monday 20 July, Sir Norman Lamb and Norfolk Community Foundation will be jointly issuing a Norfolk-wide call for people to take on a challenge together with a group of family, friends or colleagues to collectively 'walk 500 miles' over August to raise money for the Sir Norman Lamb Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, which supports grassroots organisations and charities in Norfolk working with children, teenagers and young people with mental ill health, learning disabilities and autism.

The challenge will be officially launched on Norfolk Day, Monday 27 July. People can choose to run, cycle or swim as an alternative - and they can also decide, instead, to do 50 miles by themselves if they don't want to do it as part of a group. We all know how much physical exercise can have a positive impact on our mental health and this is an opportunity not only to encourage students to get their physical exercise but to get behind something positive and celebrate what Norfolk can achieve when it comes together.

Sir Norman and Norfolk Community Foundation would be grateful if your school could notify students of the 'walk 500 miles' challenge which they may like to take part in over the summer holiday.

More information, including guidance on fundraising, will be published by Norfolk Community Foundation on their website (www.norfolkfoundation.com) on 27 July.
