Update from Speak East regarding speech, language and communication training

Following another period of school closures, we are seeing further increase in the need to support children and young people's speech, language and communication development.

If you have staff in your teams who would like to develop their knowledge and confidence in supporting SLCN, Speak East are continuing to offer interactive online training courses. Our short courses are still just £20 per person and full of information and practical advice and strategies. All courses are delivered via Zoom.

As well as developing the skills of your practitioners, you may be looking at the need to implement some targeted support for some of your children. We will be running Talk Boost training throughout the summer term, which will enable your staff to deliver the ICAN interventions in your setting. The intervention is suitable for 3-4 year olds (Early Talk Boost), 4-7 year olds (Talk Boost KS1) and 7-10 year olds (Talk Boost KS2). Evidence shows that children can make up to 6 months' progress in their speech and language skills from the 9 week programme.
