Sports and physical activity survey for the Greater Norwich Growth Board

Greater

Background

The Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) comprises Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council, South Norfolk District Council, Broadland District Council, and the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership. It identifies and secures funding for a range of projects to benefit those living and working in the Greater Norwich area.

The GNGB has commissioned the development of a Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, match funded by Sport England, to identify how they can help transform the health, well-being and quality of life of our residents by creating opportunities for and inspiring people to become more active. It will contain recommendations on the facilities, services, programmes, partnerships and initiatives that are required to help people to become more active.

The GNGB is running a sports and physical activity survey to help them gain a true picture of people's physical activity, whether they have the infrastructure they need and if the pandemic has changed their activity levels. The results of the survey will help inform the strategy for Greater Norwich.

About the survey

All residents living in Greater Norwich (Norwich, Broadland and South Norfolk) are invited to complete the survey, whether they play sports, cycle, walk, take part in sports classes or teams, or they aren't physically active at all. The survey asks about exercise, active commuting and how people's routines might have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Information gathered in the survey will be used to develop the strategy.

Everyone over the age of 16 who takes part will be entered in a draw to win one of three Amazon vouchers worth £100, £75 or £50.

Please see the Greater Norwich Growth Board website for more information about the survey and links to take part.

The survey will close at 5pm on 10 December 2021.

How schools can help

The GNGB is asking all Headteachers to help promote this survey among their pupils and their families in the Greater Norwich area. While there are the two versions of the survey (over-16s and under-16s), they are particularly interested in ensuring that under 16s have a chance to respond. Please encourage everyone to take part.

They would appreciate schools helping to publicise the survey through the school's social media accounts too. You can use the suggested text below, and also the attached social media graphic and two posters (one for the over-16s survey and one for the under-16s survey).
