FREE Event for Supporting Service Young People to Transition to Further Education

A Service child is defined by the SCiP Alliance as a person whose parent or carer serves in the Regular Armed Forces, or as a Reservist, or has done at any point during the first 25 years of that person's life.

Only 24 percent of Service children participate in higher education, compared to 43 percent of the general population.

The Service Children's Progression Alliance is running a conference on 28 February 2022 from 3.30-5.30pm which will help schools support young people from Service families to transition to further education.

This session will help schools understand the experiences of Service children and how the Alliance can help, and it will introduce the Thriving Lives toolkit.

The evidence-based Thriving Lives toolkit explains the seven principles of effective support for Service children in school and provides self-reflection questions linked to further guidance, case studies and resources. At this conference you will explore the principles, and associated new CPD resources, reflect on your practice and plan action back in school.
