EYFS: Statutory Assessment Networks - Updated Agreement Trialling Offer

Outline

We have made changes to the format of the final EYFS statutory assessment network of the year. It was always intended that it should be for agreement trialling, but we had arranged it as recorded training followed by a one-hour evening online live session, due to restrictions. We are now in a position to offer a different approach that will enable us to go into more detail with delegates in the live sessions.

Delegates will receive video training materials to enable them to prepare for the live meetings. The live meetings will be 2.5 hours in length and delegates will have the choice of 3 dates where they either attend the PDC or the Ffolkes Arms in person, or they join the event via Microsoft Teams. On each of the three dates, delegates will have a choice of attending in the morning (9-11:30) or the afternoon (1:30 - 4). See below for further detail of the content, venues, dates, times and booking course codes.

Description:

The training will consist of:

  • Video training - Delegates will be sent a series of video training sessions that will take them through the use of the new exemplification materials; practice making assessments against the Early Learning Goals using some observations; and key information to support fair and accurate assessment for all. The video training will be sent to all delegates on 28th April 2022.
  • Meetings - The live meetings will either be face to face or online. At these meetings we will firstly discuss the exemplification materials. Following this, delegates will be shown 2 interviews with teachers discussing a child from their class. Delegates will be asked to discuss the judgements made by the teachers, share any questions they may have and state whether they agree or disagree, justifying their thoughts. Finally, delegates will be asked to discuss 2 children from their own classes whilst a colleague acts as a moderator to agree or disagree and justify their responses. Delegates will be asked to have given prior thought to the attainment of 2 children in their class, considering all ELGs. They will need to be able to discuss these 2 children in detail at the live meeting. We would recommend that delegates consider discussing a child who shows the expected level of attainment and a child they might find more difficult to assess.
  • Electronic documents - useful resources will be shared in the Padlet to support accurate assessments

Audience:

Year R class teachers, colleagues from Y1 or YN, teaching assistants.

Booking information:

This training is fully funded for maintained schools and is part of the Norfolk subscription for monitoring statutory assessment for academies and free schools. Places will be limited to 2 delegates per setting, initially.

When you book onto a live session, you will also receive the video training. This will be sent to delegates on 28/04/22. We recommend that delegates put aside 2 hours to complete this training.
