Jubilee Trees for Norfolk scheme is open!

Jubilee Trees for Norfolk - could your school celebrate this special year by planting trees?

Trees have never been more important for us and for future generations. By planting more trees now, we will help towards combatting climate change, restoring biodiversity, and improving air quality. It's a positive action we can all take!

In this special Jubilee year, the 1 Million Trees for Norfolk team at Norfolk County Council is asking everyone around the county to join in and plant native trees wherever it will benefit the local environment and has the long-term support and permission of the landowner.

We are happy to announce that the Jubilee Trees for Norfolk scheme is open! This is available to everyone - including, schools, individuals, community groups, businesses, and landowners. We are offering up to 50% subsidy on the cost of five different types of tree packs (tall trees, smaller trees, trees for wildlife, hedgerow, and orchard trees).

Trees come in pack of 10, 20 or 125 and can be split up between sites (with the exception of orchard packs which must be planted in the same location). Your school could apply for trees and share them out to every child to plant in a garden, or you might have an area of school land that could support a small copse, hedgerow or even a Jubilee orchard! Alternatively, you might want to contact your parish council or a local community group who your children can help plant trees this winter.

Communities across Norfolk are teaming together to help the environment and make Norfolk an even greener county. It's important that children understand why planting more trees is so important for the future health of our world. This could be an excellent topic to explore through physically planting trees together.

The application form is open now, but trees will be ready to collect and plant in this year's planting season between December 2022 and February 2023.

You can apply here: www.norfolk.gov.uk/jubileetrees

Please take the time to read the guidance notes which will help with your application. If you would like more information, please contact tree.planting@norfolk.gov.uk.

Thank you.
