Early Years Communication Hubs: Supporting children's speech sound difficulties

From Tuesday 9 May, the Early Years Communication Hubs will be hosting their third round of meetings which will be face to face, with a focus on supporting speech sound development and difficulties.

For more information about the Communication Hubs, including meeting dates, times and venues, please see the early years training flyer here.

Booking is via the Early Years Provider Portal (linked in the top right corner of the flyer), each meeting is fully funded and spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

We would welcome attendance from any early years practitioners, childminders, reception and nursery class teachers, teaching assistants, SENDCo's and primary headteachers based in Norfolk, with an interest in improving support for children's early speech, language and communication development in their school or setting. Delegates do not need to have attended meetings 1 or 2, to access meeting 3.

As with every Communication Hub meeting, delegates will also have the opportunity to stay for an extra 30 minutes (from 8pm-8:30pm) to attend our 'Speech and Language Surgery'. During this time, delegates will be able to ask pre submitted practice-based questions to their hub's Speech and Language Therapist and/or their Early Years Advisers.

If you are a professional looking to attend this meeting, please email jo.patterson@norfolk.gov.uk

By attending a local Communication Hub participants benefit from linking with support networks in their area, however, practitioners may attend any of the five new hubs.

There are also five pre-existing Communication Hubs listed below*:

  • The North Norwich Communication Hub
  • The Lakenham Communication Hub
  • The Peapod Communication Hub (for community groups)
  • The 0-2 Communication Hub (focused on 0-2 best practice)
  • The Breckland Communication Hub

*Please note, the five pre-existing Communication Hubs established by the Norwich Opportunity Area, have their own offers and agendas. Please get in touch with them directly to find out more, using the details on this flyer
