This is an online briefing which will highlight new and effective transition practice for children starting their school journey in Reception this September in Norfolk.

This briefing will cover

  • The new Norfolk 2023 early years STAIR (supporting transition and inclusion record) as well as the latest advice and guidance to support high quality transitions into school, including children with SEND
  • Advice and guidance on tailoring provision to build an inclusive EYFS curriculum around children's starting points
  • Support for Speech, Language and Communication needs, including the new 2023 Norfolk Communication hub offer
  • An Introduction to Nurturing Norfolk Play. This approach was launched to early years settings in 2022 and received an overwhelmingly positive response. We are therefore delighted to offer this opportunity now to all Norfolk EYFS school provision, to extend nurturing play practice.

Outcomes

  • Improved knowledge and awareness about Norfolk early years transition expectations, including children with SEND.
  • Increased understanding about how to build an inclusive EYFS curriculum and confidence to meet the needs of your incoming Reception cohort
  • Improved awareness of new local support for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs
  • Access to CPD resources for Nurturing Norfolk Play and how to use this approach to enhance your early years provision.
