NCC Vulnerable Youth Wider Discussion Paper
Children's Services are seeking the views of school leaders and governors at High and Special Schools, alongside our other partner agencies and community based organisations working with young people, as part of a 'wider discussion' on our commissioning intentions for young people. These intentions have been developed through the 11-19 Commissioning Coordination and Advisory Group which has representatives from all key agencies, including schools and colleges. Our intentions include a proposal to establish a Youth Advisory Board in each District Council area to coordinate local decision making around how £675,000 of the Early Intervention Grant is used to build community capacity to respond to young people's needs, especially for those young people who are more vulnerable.
The discussion paper outlining these commissioning intentions can be viewed by clicking here.
In order to gather feedback on our commissioning intentions, we are running three discussion events across the county. Each event will commence with an introductory input from Tim Eyres, 11-19 Strategy & Commissioning Manager.
Monday 6th June 2pm - 4pm at East Norfolk Sixth Form Centre
Monday 13th June 2pm - 4pm at Easton College
Monday 27th June 2pm - 4pm at Kings Lynn Professional Development Centre
Places for these three events can be booked by contacting Julie Purdy at Norfolk County Council on 01603 638196 or via email: julie.purdy@norfolk.gov.uk
More information on these and other discussion events, including a county wide young people's event, hosted by members of the UK Youth Parliament at 'The Garage' in Norwich can be found by clicking here.
We need your help to involve young people in local discussions on our commissioning intentions and we have therefore put together a pack of material that can be used by staff with pupils, possibly via the school council. These materials include an introductory power point presentation that explains what is being proposed click here and some group discussion tasks and feedback sheets that can be used in a workshop lasting about an hour, click here for information.
There is also an option for individual young people to additionally complete a very short online survey: www.surveymonkey.com/s/RMLY5B8
For more information or comment on our commissioning intentions for young people please contact Tim Eyres, 11-19 Strategy & Commissioning Manager or the Headteacher representative on the 11-19 commissioning group: George Denby, Caister High School.
