Management Information Sheet
New Norfolk School Self Evaluation Form (SEF)
The new Ofsted Inspection Framework will take effect from January 2012 and schools are strongly encouraged to align their self evaluation processes with the new judgements. Norfolk has previously supported schools with an online SEF form, following the withdrawal of the national system in July 2011.
We have now redesigned the Norfolk SEF to support the new Ofsted Evaluation Schedule and tested it with the support of Hellesdon High School. To ensure we refine the form and make it suitable for all schools, we would like to invite schools trial the new system. This type of testing is sometimes referred to as ‘beta test’. The system will be available through the MySchool site. Where schools have previously made use of the Norfolk online SEF, the old content is available within the relevant sections of new tool. They can be copied across for amendment easily and specific guidance related to the evaluation criteria is also available on the same screen.
The beta trial is open to all Norfolk maintained schools and academies. The following schools are encouraged to take advantage of this offer:
Schools expecting an Ofsted Inspection from Jan 2012
Schools with content on the current Norfolk SEF
There is an expectation that participating schools will provide some feedback on the tool and associated processes via a survey at the end of January 2012. Please go to the registration page to sign up for the trial.
It is also a timely reminder to re-emphasise the importance between self-evaluation and development planning to drive school improvement and sustain success. You might find this course helpful, which is just one of a variety of services to support schools.
