School Nursing Service - changes effective 22 April 2014

Due to the current level of resource within the School Nursing Service, an organisational action plan has been developed to manage the current situation but also looking towards the future. To this end, you are being advised of the changes that need to take place with immediate effect in order to provide a quality, accessible and equitable service.

As from 22 April 2014 a School Nursing Single Point of Referral (SN SPOR) is being established. In practice this means that referrals will only be accepted via the dedicated e mail address:

school.nursing@nchc.nhs.uk

A referral form has been attached for this purpose.

In addition to this a Duty School Nurse for the Norfolk Community Health and Care (NCHC) area will be based at Dereham Hospital. They will be available Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm for telephone consultation, advice and signposting. The contact number for this service will be 01362 654916.

The School Nursing Service will operate a countywide corporate caseload. Current contact numbers for existing school nurse bases will no longer be the first point of contact. The Duty Worker will be able provide general advice and signpost to a named school nurse if appropriate.

Health colleagues may send in their clinic letters etc for processing to: Dereham Hospital, Northgate, Dereham, Norfolk NR19 2EX.

Enuresis Clinic Referrals - Please continue to use Choose and Book as appropriate.
