How to Manage Confidential Emails which are Encrypted

When you receive confidential emails from Norfolk County Council to your school's "head@" or "office@" mailbox they will be encrypted. To access the content you will need to register with Sophos (the software used).

It is suggested that where a number of staff in your school access those mailboxes, that the password and password recovery answers to the system are shared confidentially, so that anyone with access can open the emails sent. Attached is a set of user instructions on how to use the system and who to contact if you have any problems.

Please be aware that you cannot forward encrypted emails to another mailbox as the recipient will not be able to open the content. So if, for example, the email received by the "office@" mailbox is intended for another member of staff in the school, you will need to print it off and have it delivered to them confidentially.
