The Future of Education Leadership in Norfolk - Final Report

Following on from MI sheets issued earlier this school year telling you about the work we commissioned from the ISOS Partnership around what was needed to support great education leadership in Norfolk in the future (see MI Sheet 180/16 and MI Sheet 19/17), I am delighted to be able to tell you that the final report is now available.

It is a very accessible and positive report and I hope that you can make time to read it. I think it provides an excellent summary of the views of stakeholders across Norfolk and a clear structure for us to move forward.

Some highlights are:

  • Page 6 describes a strategy 'owned collectively by all education leaders across Norfolk' and then 'putting the recommendations of this project into effect will require a clear articulation of the future role of the LA but also a willingness of school leaders individually and collectively to play an active part in shaping the future of leadership in Norfolk'.
  • Page 15 says 'Norfolk should aspire to be seen as a hotbed of educational excellence and innovation and consequently a great place to aspire to be an education leader'.
  • Page 24 says that system leaders should see 'the benefits of a diverse system rather than the challenge of a fragmented one'.

If you don't have time to read all the report please look at pages 22, 23, 24 and 27.

We would like you to support us in moving forward following publication of the report in 'shaping the future of leadership in Norfolk'. Page 17 describes the role of the LA as 'championing', 'convening' and 'commissioning' and in light of that we have arranged three half-day workshops during June; we hope that you will be able to attend one of these sessions.
